Luck : Where preparation and opportunity come together

Crisp air and blue skies made a welcome change from the often leaden skies and strong winds that is more typical of our winter. A number of the squad took in this race to to measure progress so far winter.

After clocking a 19:30 5k split which is better than his PB for the distance, Ove Svejstrup was the first of the coached athletes home in 31:50 (24th). Then coming in thick and fast Jason CarrĂ© 33:36 (30th) and Steve Smith 33:47 (31st) also posted solid times – Steve’s being over a minute faster than 2018.

Sam Lesley – part of the GAC Middle Distance squad was 4th finisher (28:45), sporting his Track352 vest, switching back to the roads after a 2:00 indoor 800mtrs clocking just the weekend before.

Emily Squire (coached by Amy Critchlow/Try-a-Tri) also impressed with a near 2minute improvement over 2018 to finish 3rd lady in 32:59.
